Hurray, finally got the pic!

My friend Josh randomly sent me my ninja costume picture. Not entirely sure why... He says he was looking for pics of me on his computer... Something to do with putting my mugshot on a site he's working on.

Anyways, here's the costume I wore to the last fancy dress: I went as Sub-Zero (a ninja from Mortal Kombat, for anyone who doesn't recognize the costume).

I spoke to my friend Jeffo a little while ago and the topic of the conversation got onto music, as it invariably does when talking with him.

He suggested that I listen to a band called Pure Reason Revolution. I'd never heard of them before but, as with most music, I was willing to give them a shot.

I now have their album "The Dark Third" and, I must say, it's pretty damn awesome.

I couldn't really put a genre to it myself, but iTunes seems to think that it's "Neo-Psychadelia", whatever that is when it's at home.

Anyway, whether you've heard of the genre before or not, I'd still give them a listen, you may be pleasantly suprised.

Just a quick post today.

Had my 08101 (Programming 1) exam today, it wasn't as hard as I expected, which was nice.

Still got my 08123 (Computer Systems) exam to come, not looking forward to that one as the lecturer we had for it was appalling. He can't teach at all.

Ok, so here's the costume I wore last night;

I'm so incredibly tired today. Hardly got any sleep last night (this morning) as the girls decided they'd be hyperactive, as soon as we were all in our beds, and stayed up for like 2 hours jumping around and screaming.

Then, when I left, I was only at home for 15 minutes before I had to leave for work.

As I'm posting this I'm revising for an exam for tomorrow.

At least the party was good, I guess, heh.

I was invited to a fancy dress party on NYE by the "random" girl that saved me from having nowhere to sleep. It's happening tonight, but I kinda left the costume arranging part of it until last minute, so I've rented a costume.

Last time I went to a fancy dress party I went as a Ninja, this time I'm going as the Ninjas arch nemesis - a Pirate!

I can't seem to find the picture of my Ninja costume at the moment, but if I do I'll post it at a later date.

Oh, bugger, just remembered that I've got work tomorrow and I'm staying out tonight... Ah well.

I've just added a "Quicklinks" bar to the right hand side of the page. At the moment it's got my friends Roy and sAM listed, but I'll be adding to it progressively as I find things to add.

Also, I submitted my blog to Technorati yesterday. Technorati is a blog directory service that provides blog searching features (so I don't have to code my own, yay) and link back tracing, as well as many other things.

If Technorati works as it should, Roy should get a linkback thing from this post and maybe even the link on the right, heh.

Well, I haven't posted in a little while... Let's see, what's been happening...

Well, I had far too much to drink on New Years Eve and forgot quite a lot of it. Woke up at some random persons house D:

Went to a friends birthday party 2 days ago with my Wii and we all spent hours upon hours playing it. I stayed the night and we played it all day yesterday as well. People get REALLY competitive and aggressive when they play on the Wii with other people...

Today my arms ache so much because of all the Wii playing D:

Other than that, not much happening in my part of the world.

Boxing Day today, so I have work tonight... Kinda sucks, but it's double pay, woop!

Christmas Day yesterday was awesome, got a lot of cool stuff from my parents and other relatives.

My parents got me a really nice katana as the "main" present, then a load of cool stuff under the pretext of "Santa".

My grandma came over, Christmas dinner was delicious and we all had a laugh - 'twas good.

The Wii arrived today. DHL have really impressed me - Wii delivered today as promised, they've not redeemed themselves, but I might stop disliking them so much.

The Wii itself is awesome, been playing since 11. Haven't tried MonkeyBall yet, but Wii Play and Wii Sports are quite good.

Zelda: Twilight Princess is totally awesome! I love it!

I got an email from PCWorld earlier. My Wii has finally been shipped! Woo!

Problem is, though, they've shipped with DHL. Everyone I know that has had something shipped by DHL, including myself, has been sorely disappointed with the service. Their deliveries take at least 3 times as long as any other courier - and that's if they arrive at all.

Ah well, DHL suck but there's nothing I can do about that. All I can do is hope that it gets here before the end of next year...

It's my grandma's 76th birthday today. We went around to her house earlier to wish her a happy birthday and to give her her presents.

My parents got her a brown/black scarf (that my mum made - they're really nice) and a Nintendo DS. My sister and I bought her Brain Training for the DS.

Yes, my family is awesome, we all love games.

PCWorld have finally sent me an email telling me that they've started processing my order. They've also taken £260 out of my bank account, lovely...

As a treat to Olly and Cherry for driving me to Uni every day I paid for us all to have a Chinese earlier. Yum!

Also, we've now officially broken up from Uni for Christmas break. Exams when we get back, time to start revising...

I had to demonstrate my snake game today. I got a lift into Uni with Olly for about 2ish (his demo was at 2:15). As he was leaving to give his demo I saw my friend Kayleigh, so we went into the Uni pub and had a pint - Great idea to drink before giving a demonstration, I'm sure.

Anyway, it got to 4 and I went and sat down in the computer lab and got everything ready on screen. At about 4:10 the lecturer who would be marking me asked if anyone was ready to be marked. I raised my hand, he came over and we went through my demonstration. As I'd only had one pint it didn't affect me at all, I was just a little worried about the smell of it on my breath, but he didn't say anything.

After about 5 minutes of going through my documentation, source and playing the game a couple of times he gave me an estimate of my grade for it. 90%. Get in.

I'm glad all the work I put into the game paid off, woo! Shame I've got work in a couple of hours... Ah well, not like it'll be busy tonight. Never is on a Tuesday.

It's that time of the year again; The time to start opening advent calendars, the time for mass commercialism, the time when people start putting up horrible decorations, the time for christmas cheer etc.

Every year christmas seems more tacky and more commercialised to me. I'm not sure whether it's because it actually is or whether it's just because I'm getting older. Either way, I still enjoy christmas, it's nice to have a time of the year when you can express gratitude and love towards people you care for without seeming a bit of a prat.

I've got my immediate family all their presents, can't post here what I've got them on the offchance that they'll read it (not likely, but meh).

Anyway, I hope everyone has a good christmas.

Well, it's been just over two months and my blog system seems to be holding out alright, which is nice, seeing as I can't think of anything to add to the site other than my blog posts.

I probably wouldn't even be posting to my blog if it weren't for my Widget that I made. It just makes life so much easier when I want to post to my blog.

It works a bit like this:

3. Type blog entry
4. Hit Submit
5. ???
6. Profit!

And it makes blogging very pleasant.

I've decided that I'll make some entries relating to Uni life and work.

I'm a first year student, meaning that September was the first step to the rest of my life, I guess.

I'm taking Computer Science with Games Development, but the first year is just generic computer science for all compsci students. Next (academic) year is when we get to start doing the games development stuff.

We've been working on a C# project a lot recently. The project is to make a basic Snake game (the kind you get on Nokia phones). You get more marks the more complex is, so I've put quite a lot of work into making it fancy - high scores, colours, easy to use menus etc.

Other lessons aren't suite so good, I've had to take Maths for the third time running, joy of joys.

Uni seems to be a lot more laid back than when I went to college and school, which is quite nice.

All in all, Uni life seems pretty cool. Next year supposed to have a lot more hard work, but we'll see.

I haven't mentioned it up until now, but I'm a pretty avid gamer.

Today I ordered a Wii from PCWorld. I'm probably pushing it a little with there being so many pre-orders and so few consoles, but I can hope, I guess.

Once it gets here I'll probably make quite a few more gaming posts.

Can't wait to play with my Wii.

My dad finally got around to taking the Micra for it's MOT. It only needed minor repair to pass, which is nice.

He's insured himself to drive the car and uses it as a runaround so my mum can use the main car (she can only use automatic because of her leg, so she can't drive the Micra)

I'm thinking of putting off lessons until I've got more spare time, more money and the weather pics up - So it's looking like summer is the time for lessons.

...that the dog is terrified of fireworks.

She's been going crazy all night, it's driving me mad. Sure, the fireworks are pretty but Poppy is running around and whimpering and generally getting in the way of everything and it's getting bloody frustrating.

Ah well, that's life I guess.

I've got a couple of pics from last night, turns out I was right about the wind. My parents had to set up their stuff in our hallway, but it still looked good and had little kids shaking.

Also, here's a pic of my costume from when I went to Spiders last Saturday (forgot to mention that yesterday). Was quite a good night out, except for the fact that the stupid woman in the cloak room managed to lose my jacket.
